This award is for physician-scientists to bridge advanced postdoctoral/fellowship training and the early years of faculty service. Proposals must be in the area of basic biomedical, disease-oriented, translational, or molecular, genetic, or pharmacological epidemiology research. Proposals in the area of epidemiology should contact the Foundation to determine their eligibility. Proposals in health services research or involving large-scale clinical trials are ineligible. |
| Information And Eligibilty Criteria: |
* Candidates must hold an M.D., D.D.S., D.V.M., Pharm.D., or equivalent clinical degree.
* Proposals must be in the area of basic biomedical, disease oriented, translational, or molecular, genetic, or pharmacological epidemiology research. Proposals that are in the area of epidemiology should contact BWF to determine the eligibility of the proposal. Proposals in health services research or involving large-scale clinical trials are ineligible.
* BWF encourages nominations from candidates who work in reproductive science.
* Candidates must be a clinical fellow, resident, or a postdoctoral researcher and have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience at the time of application.
* Candidates who hold a junior faculty appointment (Lecturer, Instructor, Assistant Professor-non tenure track, etc.) may be eligible if they have been in a faculty position for two years or less at the time of application.
* Candidates must not be more than 120 months past their most recent doctorate degree. No exceptions will be made.
* Candidates with a clinical degree not awarded in the U.S. or Canada must be fully licensed to practice in the U.S. or Canada.
* Candidates must be committed to a full-time career in research as an independent investigator at a North American degree-granting institution.
* Candidates must be nominated by accredited, degree-granting institutions in the U.S. or Canada.
* Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada at the time of application. Persons who have applied for permanent resident status but have not received their government documentation by the time of application are not eligible.
* Permanent residents of the U.S. must provide a copy of their Permanent Resident Card with the application.
* Permanent residents of Canada must provide a copy of their Landed Immigrant Status form with the application. |

Required Materials
- Biosketch of no more than two pages
- Brief, half-page research summary of the work you propose doing for the specific funding opportunity
- Eligibility statment - Please include a statement of eligibility for the specific award you are applying to. If the requirements state you must be a tenure track professor appointed to your first faculty position no earlier than July 1, 2007, then you should include your start date and current rank.
- Award specific requirements - Refer to each opportunity's guidelines for the additional information we may need for a particular award. Examples include naming faculty who will write letters of recommendation or identifying a faculty mentor.

- Format your application as either a Word document or an Adobe PDF file.
- If possible, submit your application as one attached file.
- On every page, please include your full name and the name of the award you are applying to in the header or footer of the document.

Faculty Review Network
. The review process takes several weeks, depending upon the number of applicants. In general we try to give candidates at least three weeks notice before the foundation's deadline for submission. All applicants will be notified by email as to whether or not they are selected.
