$175,000/yr for 5 years

Nominations are due to the Foundation by March 15, 2011. The Foundation’s online application system will be available to nominees and referees on February 15, 2011 at fellows.packard.org. For security reasons, nominees will not be able to access the online application system until they have been identified to the Foundation by the university president. All application materials (described below) must be submitted to the Foundation by April 20, 2011.

A prestigious award to support unusually creative researchers early in their careers; faculty members who are well established are less likely to receive this award.  Nominations are requested in January of each year from the presidents of 50 universities selected by the Advisory Panel. Up to two nominations may be made by the president of each institution.

Eligibility criteria:

• Candidates must be young faculty members in the first three years of their faculty career
• Candidates must be engaged in research in the natural sciences or engineering
