| Award Description: | The major objective of the NCI Transition Career Development Award program is two-fold: (i) to provide a mechanism for stabilizing the career tracks of the most promising of investigators while they are establishing their first independent research programs and (ii) to create equal access to extramural career development opportunities to postdoctoral scientists in basic human cancer research working as Federal employees. |
| Information And Eligibilty Criteria: | Eligible candidates for an award must possess a clinical doctoral degree (e.g. M.D., D.V.M., D.O.), oncology nurses with a doctoral degree or clinical psychologists with a doctoral degree, who are pursuing basic science cancer research careers or careers in patient-oriented cancer research; or a doctoral degree (e.g. Ph.D., M..D., Dr.P.H.) in the areas of cancer prevention, control, behavioral or population science. Federally employed basic scientists holding a doctoral degree (e.g. Ph.D, M.D.) are eligible candidates if they are working in human cancer research. Recipients of the NCI Mentored Career Development Awards (i.e., K07, K08, K12, K23, K25) and/or are individuals from underrepresented groups in biomedical research are eligible. |
