Funding and Award Opportunities for Cancer Research

Award Name: Assay Development for High Throughput Molecular Screening (R21)
Funding Sponsor: National Cancer Institute (NCI)
Funding Sponsor Link: http://www.cancer.gov/
Award Amount:

The total project period for an application submitted in response to this funding opportunity may not exceed one year.  Direct costs are limited to $100,000.  Projects funded in the Assay Development for HTS Program are eligible for rapid entry into the MLPCN following assay development, using an expedited Fast Track review of technical readiness by the Molecular Libraries Project Team. Upon approval, the projects are immediately assigned to a Network Screening Center for implementation, and the investigator is awarded $25,000 (direct costs) as a supplement to be used in facilitating an effective collaboration between assay provider and assigned Center on the HTS and probe development project.

Award Deadline:

October 29, 2010

Award Description:

This FOA will facilitate the discovery of new molecular probes for investigating biological function by funding the development and adaptation of biological assays for use in automated High-Throughput Screening (HTS) projects.  These HTS-ready assays can then be screened by the Molecular Libraries Production Centers Network (MLPCN) to identify biologically active compounds in a large library of small molecule chemical structures.

Information And Eligibilty Criteria:

Individuals with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research are invited to work with their institution/organization to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH support.
