Funding is for two years, from January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2020.  Three payments of $25,000 will be made during this term, in December 2018, January 2019 and December 2019. The Foundation does not fund the salary of the Young Investigator, indirect costs, or travel expenses.

All proposals must be submitted to the UCCCC by September 21, 2018 via email to Rita Spiroff (rspiroff@bsd.uchicago.edu).

URA approval is required before submitting to the Cancer Center

Funding decisions will be made by the Cancer Research Foundation Board at the Foundation Meeting being held in the fall of 2018.

Award Description:

The Young Investigator Awards are two-year research grants to be awarded to cancer researchers at the beginning of their research careers.  These grants are intended to support scientists who have little or no established funding "track records" and who have not yet qualified for significant external research support at the time of submission. These awards are designed to nurture young scientists in the pursuit of independent hypotheses.

Information And Eligibilty Criteria:

Applicants are expected to be fewer than ten years from obtaining their advanced degree(s). This award is limited to applicants with current appointments at institutions directly affiliated with Comprehensive Cancer Centers recognized by the NCI. Ideal candidates will either be current members of the Cancer Center or considering membership.
