Funding and Award Opportunities for Cancer Research

Award Name: UCCCC Team Science Grant
Funding Sponsor: UCCRF
Funding Sponsor Link: http://cancer.uchicago.edu/
Award Amount:

Awards will be for $150,000 (this is an internal award, so there are no indirect costs).   Fifty percent of the funds will be given at the time of the initial award, with the remaining funds being allocated at 6 months contingent of the project meeting established milestones.

Award Deadline:

LOIs should be submitted to Dr. Marcy List ([email protected]) by Friday, October 26, 2018.

Award Description:

The purpose of these awards is to foster team science, that is, a set of inter-related and interdependent projects (not a set of separate R01-like projects) among researchers of diverse scientific backgrounds in an integrated, multidisciplinary cancer-focused effort.  The project should arise from multiple venues/departments within the institution, be translational, and include systematic oversight and evaluation, including specified milestones and deliverables.  It should form the basis for the submission of large interdisciplinary applications, such as U01s, P01s, P50s, SPOREs, or SCORs.  Review criteria will focus on the scientific team, the innovativeness, merit of the scientific questions, integration of the project, description of milestones, and future directions, that is, specific plans for extension of the research and sustainability via grant submissions.

Information And Eligibilty Criteria:

Each application should contain separate projects/components from a minimum of three faculty members, representing at least two different areas of research expertise.  The Principal Investigator and at least one other project leader should be members of the UCCCC.  We welcome applications which include collaborations with other University Divisions, Schools, or Institutes (e.g., Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Social Science Administration, Booth School of Business, Harris School of Public Policy, and Institute of Molecular Engineering).  Projects that were submitted last year, but not funded, may be resubmitted.
